Tenpin Bowling is ideal sporting or leisure activity for school leavers
Marcia Tudor attended this year’s Post School Expo prepared by the National Disability Coordination Officer (NDCO) for Region 22 at The Cairns Colonial Club on Friday 28th October. Over 40 service providers attended the Expo with Hon. Curtis Pitt MP, Senator Jan McLucas, Susan Stork-Finlay, Clive Dixon (DET) and members of the northern pride enthusiastically supporting the day.
Minister for Disability Services Curtis Pitt stated that “Leaving
school is a milestone in the life of all young people, and in the lives of their parents and families, and while helping school leavers plan their future is an important issue for all families, it is especially so for those with a son or daughter with a disability.”
Mr Pitt congratulated the service providers on their commitment .“The Cairns Expo 2011 was a fantastic event that enabled school leavers with a disability to explore the different options and supports available to them once they leave school and embark on study, work and other opportunities in their local communities.”
“The turnout rivalled that of numbers at the Brisbane event which just goes to show the immense support we have up here in the Far North for important events like this” he said.
