Tenpin Bowling is ideal sporting or leisure activity for school leavers

Marcia Tudor attended this year’s Post School Expo prepared by the National Disability Coordination Officer (NDCO) for Region 22 at The Cairns Colonial Club on Friday 28th October. Over 40 service providers attended the Expo with Hon. Curtis Pitt MP, Senator Jan McLucas, Susan Stork-Finlay, Clive Dixon (DET) and members of the northern pride enthusiastically supporting the day.

Minister for Disability Services Curtis Pitt stated that  “Leaving Hon. Curtis Pitt MP and Marcia Tudor from Go Bowling Cairnsschool is a milestone in the life of all young people, and in the lives of their parents and families, and while helping school leavers plan their future is an important issue for all families, it is especially so for those with a son or daughter with a disability.”

Mr Pitt congratulated the service providers on their commitment .“The Cairns Expo 2011 was a fantastic event that enabled school leavers with a disability to explore the different options and supports available to them once they leave school and embark on study, work and other opportunities in their local communities.”

“The turnout rivalled that of numbers at the Brisbane event which just goes to show the immense support we have up here in the Far North for important events like this” he said.

YOUR NEW GO BOWLING CENTRE

We are proud to (finally) announce a major remodel fitout that will essentially turn GO BOWLING Cairns into one of the premier 20 lane tenpin bowling centres in non metropolitan Queensland if not the State.

There will be various stages in this fit out with the initial project of painting the centre already under way.

Stage 2 (a) will entail a full fit out of new café tables and colourful seats , C-90 Players area seating, and new VIA BOWLING hoods and (ball return) racks. This stage should be completed by October or early November.

Stage 2 (b) will include 9 new Glow in the Dark BALL RACKS which doubly act as a bar for drinks n eats behind the players area seating. These will also hold 18 house balls for bowler’s convenience.

Stage 3 will be a new flooring with an exciting and vibrant vinyl covering the whole current tiled and carpeted area. (this is proposed for a mid October completion deadline)

Glow in the dark, SPL synthetic lanes & pindecks, glow cappings gutters and automatic bumpers will be Stage 4 – scheduled for November this year.

(nb: we are retaining the timber approaches with Doug doing a full resurface on them as part of the lane installation process).

Finishing off the lanes will be new AMF Foul lights.

Future stages to compliment your centre fitout will be new centre scoring console and scoring pads (without seats) – with more room for league bowlers to maneuver around the players area.

All of this added with the already new GAME COMMAND system, 3 drop down screens for tournaments / music DVDs etc : is as exciting as it gets – I know Paul and I along with the team are very keen to get moving as quick as we can to give you the best darn bowling centre as you rightly deserve.

Look out for the reno league practice specials coming out soon: because surely after all is set n done: higher scores and bigger averages is about to become the norm!

 Damian
